BMW M3 & M4 Get Competition Package

The BMW M3 Sedan, M4 Coupe, and M4 Convertible are getting a special Competition Package, on top of their already solid performance. Highlights include handling upgrades, additional features, and a boost to 444 horsepower.

With the Competition Package, the BMW M3 Sedan and M4 Coupe with the optional 7-speed M Double Clutch Transmission (M-DCT) sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds (3.9 otherwise), while the BMW M4 Convertible reaches the same speed in 4.1 seconds (4.2 otherwise).

The sprint time for models with the standard 6-speed manual transmission is likewise 0.1 seconds faster in all cases than without the package.

The Competition Package includes Adaptive M Suspension, extensively tuned for better handling. It features new springs, dampers, and anti-roll bars, along with reconfigured driving modes – Comfort, Sport and Sport+. The standard Active M Differential on the rear axle and DSC Dynamic Stability Control have also been configured to match. Forged, machine-polished, weight-and rigidity-optimized, multi-spoke 20-inch M alloy wheels (front 9J ×20; rear10 J ×20) with mixed tires sizes (front: 265/30 R20, rear: 285/30 R20) complete the list of upgrades.

The Competition Package includes special M seats for extra support in the BMW M3 and M4, most noticeable when on the track. Seatbelts with BMW M stripes decorate the interior further. The Competition Package features a high-gloss Shadow Line finish on the side window trim, exterior mirror frames and bases, and window recess finishers. The high-gloss finish is also prevalent on the grille and badges, while the exhaust is lined in black chrome.

The Competition Package will be offered this spring for $5,500 USD on the M3 Sedan and Coupe and $5,000 USD on the M4 Convertible. The upgrades from BMW M GmbH should find favor with BMW enthusiasts looking for a little more performance and personality.
