Five Coolest Cars From The 2016 SEMA Show

2016 marks the 50th Anniversary of the SEMA Show. Every year, people from around the world arrive in Las Vegas to look at the latest products available in the aftermarket industry. Among them, there are some cool automotive sculptures on display as well.

As we enter the final day of this year’s show, here is our list of the five coolest vehicles on display.

#1 Ringbrothers’ 1948/2016 Cadillac Madam V

Ringbrothers is a Wisconsin based hot-rod shop owned by Jim and Mike Ring. Over the years, the company has built a reputation for bringing some of the most desired one-off custom cars to the annual event. This year, the team has brought one of the most desirable Cadillac hot-rods to date, the Madam V.

The Madam V was created by blending four cars: two 1948 Cadillac Sedanette fastbacks, a 2015 Cadillac ATS-V, and a 2016 ATS-V. The car is owned by Wes Rydell, a North Dakota car dealer. Rydell also supplied the four donor cars to Ringbrothers in order to create this automotive masterpiece.

The car is powered by a 464 horsepower, twin-turbo 3.6 L V6 and is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. Even though the car looks ready for production, like many vehicles on display, this is just an one-off creation.

#2 Toyota GT4586

If you can’t appreciate someone for shoehorning a V8 from a Ferrari 458 Italia into a Toyota GT86, then you need to start doing that right now. This Frankenstein of a drift monster was the brainchild of Ryan Tuerck, a professional drifter, and was built by Huddy MotorSport.

It is safe to say a lot of body modifications were required to fit the 458’s V8 into the GT86’s engine bay. The Ferrari V8 is backed by a special five-speed sequential racing gearbox, rather than Ferrari’s dual-clutch gearbox. Some might consider this combination a sacrilege, but we have to thank Ryan for creating this drifting beast and making all of our hooning dreams come true.

Oh, I almost forgot, due to the design of the V8, the exhaust pipes exit from the side of the car, ahead of the front tires, rather than the back. This, in our opinion, deserves additional drool points.

#3 Bisimoto Hyundai Santa Fe a.k.a “Santa-Fast”

1,040 horsepower. That is not a typo and we like that a lot.

The car … I mean, the crossover is powered by a twin-turbo 3.8 L Lambda V6 and is backed by a six-speed manual transmission, borrowed from the Genesis R-Spec. All of the horsepower is sent to the rear wheels.

Can this crossover get any cooler?

It does – the 3.8 L Lambda V6 is force fed by two Turbonetics TNX 30/56 turbochargers and the boost is managed by two RG45 waste-gates and a Godzilla blow-off valve. A Spearco intercooler makes sure the engine stays well within the optimal operating temperature. The torque from the engine is transferred to the rear axle via custom Bisimoto half-shafts.

Power is put to the pavement via four 265/35 R-19 Toyo R888s, wrapped around Fifteen52 Tarmac R40 wheels. The beast comes to a stop with help from Buddy Club four-piston calipers. The interior of the Santa Fe is fitted with Momo Daytona EVO seats, a four-point roll cage, Crow harnesses, and a Racepak IQ3 driver information system.

A 1,040 horsepower Hyundai Santa Fe was not a question asked by many, but we just want to thank Bisimoto for answering it. Now, when can we drift … I mean, drive it?

#4 Toyota Land Speed Cruiser

The Toyota Land Cruiser is designed for luxury and off-roading, but what about speed?

Enter the Land Speed Cruiser, a 2,000 horsepower, twin-turbo monster, which has a claimed top speed of 220 mph. The Toyota Land Speed Cruiser is powered by the Land Cruiser’s 5.7 L V8 engine, but in this case, it is enhanced by two Garrett turbochargers.

The engine is backed by a special racing gearbox developed by ATI.

In order to achieve 220 mph, the Land Speed Cruiser features many aerodynamic modifications including a beefy front spoiler, a massive rear diffuser, a large roof spoiler, and cameras instead of wing mirrors. To lessen the amount of drag and decrease the center of gravity, the entire body shell has been smoothed out and lowered.

Even though the Land Speed Cruiser sacrifices its off-roading capabilities, we are perfectly okay with that because we still can’t wrap our minds around a 220 mph Land Cruiser.

#5 GTT by Zero to 60 Designs

At Automoblog, we like mashups. They combine many things into one piece in ways that many of us may never have thought of before. Yes, a mashup may result in weird or totally disastrous products. But sometimes, cool and interesting things come out as well.

A perfect example of the latter is the GTT, a concept from Zero to 60 Designs. They have combined the styling elements of the Ford Mustang and GT.

The GTT is powered by the 5.0 L Coyote V8 with a ProCharger supercharger. The engine is controlled by an ECU tuned from SCT Performance as it roars with an exhaust system from Magnaflow. The team at Zero to 60 Designs estimates the overall package results in more than 800 horsepower, and the car is fitted with all the hardware required to handle it. The GTT is connected to the pavement by a Pro-Street-S suspension from Eibach, Brembo brakes, and Pirelli tires.

In order to make the Mustang look like the GT, Zero to 60 Designs added a new front fascia, a custom hood with air vents, wider fenders, side skirts, a new spoiler, rear-wheel cooling ducts, dual round taillights, a rear diffuser, and a centered dual exhaust system.

Even though the Mustang looks completely different than the GT, we have to admit this is the closest anyone will ever get to combining the two blue oval icons.

Getting Closer

So, there you have it. These are the five cars we thought were the coolest at the 2016 SEMA Show.
