My father believed if you serviced your vehicle it would last a lifetime. When I was growing up, every two to three thousand miles he would get the oil changed on his Chevy pickup. He kept up on tire rotations and regular fluid exchanges. In my small, rural Iowa town, we had a local shop we thought highly of. Behind the front counter of that shop, was a row of blue and white boxes. ACDelco boxes.
Founded in 1916 by William C. Durant, ACDelco is a household name in a General Motors family. As a GM Original Equipment Manufacturer, ACDelco parts, still in the blue and white boxes, meet or exceed GM specifications.
During my time in the Service Department at Luxury Auto Mall of Sioux Falls, we trusted ACDelco parts for all of our Cadillac customers. In addition to Cadillac, we also serviced GMC, Chevrolet, Buick, Hummer, Pontiac, and Saturn. Our service drive was often filled with a variety of GM vehicles. They would come in during the morning and leave in the afternoon with ACDelco parts.

It might have been an oil change and new air filter for the retired lady and her Saturn. It might have been a front lower suspension ball joint assembly on the dentist’s Escalade. Whatever the day, whatever the vehicle, we often relied on ACDelco.
In our Express Lube, the importance of the routine maintenance stance my father so confidently believed in played out daily. Getting your vehicle serviced regularly, under the care of a knowledgeable Service Advisor, is vital. It’s the best way to protect one of your biggest purchases – your car. The cars that were not maintained were easy to spot and often times, they ended up becoming financial burdens. Safety becomes an issue too, especially with things like brakes.
A lot of people (and understandably so) rush in to get their “winter maintenance” done. I agree. It’s important. However, my time at Luxury Auto Mall taught me the importance of servicing your vehicle year round, regardless of the weather conditions. That way, it is in good shape at all times.
If you are a DIY kinda person, I suggest visiting your local ACDelco service center and talking with one of the staff members there. They can help you with the parts you need when it comes to the routine service on your vehicle. They can show you the right battery for your car or the correct serpentine belt. They can point out the hoses, wipers, filters, bulbs, and many other parts that are specific to your vehicle.
To date, ACDelco offers over 90,000 auto parts, so having the guidance of service center professional is important. They can help explain the additional value of ACDelco parts, like how their batteries have a free replacement limited warranty.
The ACDelco website is good too. There are descriptions of the parts you need, plus a detailed search tab. You can shop in the comfort of your home and have the parts shipped right to your door. They also have a section on their website dedicated to car care tips. If you are interested in taking your car knowledge to the next level, you can attend ACDelco’s online training classes.
However, you don’t need to be an expert on cars to keep yours running great. Just remember to follow your regular maintenance intervals and look to your local ACDelco professionals to guide you on the path to safer, more enjoyable driving.
