The North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) begins next week with Press Preview at the Cobo Center in downtown Detroit, Michigan. NAIAS is considered one of the most significant auto shows in the world and a tremendous platform for automakers to launch their new products.

Beginning January 16th, NAIAS will host approximately 800,000 guests from around the region until the show’s conclusion on the 24th.

Here are some other things to look forward to at the 2016 North American International Auto Show:

Toyota & The Future of Mobility

Toyota will showcase their lineup and possible future travel options across 35,000 square feet of exhibit space. The new Toyota Research Institute recently unveiled Artificial Intelligence, commercialized telematics, and advanced robotics. One display has a small vehicle on a table, learning how to drive in congested traffic.

Toyota will also show their fuel cell electric vehicle, already selling in California. The FCV+ concept vehicle demonstrates Toyota’s vision of a connected, sustainable, hydrogen society. The Toyota KIKAI will also be displayed. Toyota says KIKAI’s appeal is “simultaneously free from and reliant on the core concepts of automobiles.”

Toyota will display about 40 production and concept vehicles, including a blast from the past – or a blast from the future, depending on how you look at it. NAIAS attendees will be treated to Marty McFly’s Toyota Tacoma dream truck. Toyota launched the truck on October 21st 2015, the day McFly and Doc Brown travel to in Back to the Future Part II.

2017 Audi A4

As the bestselling model in Audi history, the 2017 A4 will have big shoes to fill. With modern designs and technologies, Audi is pushing the A4 towards a new benchmark in the luxury sedan segment. With class-leading horsepower, inspired driving character, and multiple driver assistance and infotainment capabilities, the A4 may well represent the best of Audi.

The 2017 Audi A4 features a newly developed engine and powertrain with 252 horsepower and 273 lb.ft of torque. Audi was mindful of weight and made adjustments accordingly to lighten the vehicle. The latest infotainment systems are available including Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto. 19 speaker, 755 watt Bang & Olufsen 3D Sound is an added bonus for music lovers.

This represents the 9th generation of the A4.

Kia Telluride

Kia has been tight lipped about their Telluride but within a week, there will be a lot more to tell. Based on the two images Kia has released, it appears the automaker wants to capitalize on the industry-wide upswing in SUV and crossover sales. Kia is incorporating new interior technologies that promise both luxury and sophistication.

The concept also marks Kia’s first use of 3D-printed components, which the manufacturer believes will offer a distinct design to things like the dashboard and steering wheel.

2017 Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback

The new Cruz will go on sale this fall after it’s debut at NAIAS. The Cruze is Chevrolet’s best-selling car, with 3.5 million sold globally since it was first introduced in 2008. Since then, Chevrolet’s retail share of the segment has grown from 5.8 to 9.4 percent, with 35 percent of Cruze customers being new to Chevrolet.

“With 9 percent market growth in small hatchbacks last year, it’s the perfect time to bring the Cruze Hatch to America,” said Alan Batey, President, General Motors North America and Global Chevrolet.

Similar to it’s Camaro and Malibu siblings, Cruz benefits from a lighter but more rigid architecture for increased safety and driving dynamics. The 2017 Chevy Cruze gets its most dramatic weight savings in the body structure and engine, a reduction of 100 and 44 pounds respectively.

The Cruze Hatch holds the same, class-leading 106.3-inch wheelbase, but features a unique roof and rear-end structure. Wraparound taillights compliment an integrated spoiler on the liftgate. Cargo capacity is 18.5 cubic feet behind the rear seat; with it folded down, 42 cubic feet.

The 2017 Chevy Cruze Hatch will be offered in LT and Premier trims, and with the RS package.

Brembo

2016 marks the first time Brembo, based in Plymouth, Michigan, will showcase its products and innovations at NAIAS. Brembo’s interactive exhibit will feature more than 30 braking components, including improved ventilated discs and electro-mechanical parking brakes. Visitors can even choose their favorite Brembo disc design.

Brembo’s presence at NAIAS focuses on continued expansion and education.

“Our domestic business has continued to grow steadily over the past decade and we are looking forward to introducing new products in 2016 with our OEM partners,” said Dan Sandberg, President and Chief Executive Officer, Brembo North America. “Our presence at the North American International Auto Show will help educate the media, OEMs, engineers, enthusiasts, and the public on our full line of braking products available on new vehicles as well as our consumer brake products available for purchase throughout North America.”

Brembo will house the new Ferrari 488 GTB – the only car being displayed by the Italian manufacturer at this year’s NAIAS. Brembo’s entry into motorsports came in 1975, when they equipped a Ferrari Formula 1 car with their signature brakes.

“We’re honored to display the all-new Ferrari 488 GTB in our booth,” Sandberg said.
