Action superstar Travis Pastrana, in conjunction with Utah Governor Gary R. Herbert, have announced the first Nitro World Games. Nitro Circus CEO Michael Porra said, “This is a passion project for Travis and for myself as well. We have worked tirelessly for three years with one goal in mind: a total reinvention of action sports competition. This is absolutely essential for the industry’s growth…” The next step for the wildly popular Nitro Circus traveling series, the Games are to be held in Salt Lake City July 16, 2016, starting with with seven gold medal events:
FMX
FMX Biggest Trick
BMX Best Trick
BMX Triple Jump
Skate Best Trick
Scooter Best Tricks
Inline Best Tricks
Pastrana has built a career competing across supercross, freestyle motocross, NASCAR, rally, and rallycross. Eschewing the politics that other series grapple with by inviting select athletes, all action sports athletes regardless of borders are eligible to compete in Nitro World Games through a qualification process. Nitro Circus’ 50-foot Giganta Ramp will be one of fifteen ramps on the stadium course, and the three-hour show will be broadcast on NBC and streamed via the NBC Sports Live Extra app. Tickets are already on sale at nitrocircus.com.
