Awesome Car Rallies Anybody Can Do

The other day, Christopher Burdick, Automoblog Editor-in-Chief, told me about the now defunct Balkan Rally. Until he mentioned something, I had never heard of it – however, the video above well educated me. To the beat of Groove Amanda’s “I See You Baby,” girls in bikinis, pirates, and a dude with a big soapy cannon (I assume that’s soap at 2:45) appear to be having the time of their lives.

The Balkan Rally was open to everybody and had awards for Best Decorated Vehicle, Most Unlikely Vehicle to Make it, and Most Obscene Story. My vote is for the soapy cannon guy on that one.

The finish line is at Lake Ohrid but there is no specific route to get there. It’s all about making your own adventure and going where the road leads you.  Suffice it to say, something like the Balkan Rally might be the vacation of a lifetime with your friends and family. I wish I would have known about it sooner.

The Balkan Rally is just one of several anybody can do around the globe. Our friends at Car Leasing Made Simple put together this infographic to help you determine which world rally is for you. Some are for the mega rich, some are dangerous, and others spread positive cheer.

Tell us if you have entered or are planning to enter one of these rallys.
